Walleye prevail in Game 5 to reach Conference Finals

The Toledo Walleye advanced to the Conference Finals in the 2019 Kelly Cup Playoffs presented by  SmileDirectClub with a 2-1 win at Cincinnati in Game 5 of the Central Division Finals on Saturday.

Toledo, which advances to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in the last three years, awaits the winner of the Mountain Division Finals between Tulsa and Idaho. The Oilers lead that series 3-2 and host Game 6 on Sunday.

Trailing 1-0 after one period of play, the Walleye got goals from A.J. Jenks and Greg Wolfe just 23 seconds apart early in the second period to pull ahead.

Wolfe led Toledo in the series with four goals and six points while Pat Nagle went 4-1 with a 1.80 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage.

The Cyclones were led by Justin Vaive, who had four points (1g-3a) in the five games.
