PRINCETON, N.J. – Kellen Briggs of the Ontario Reign is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 8-14.
Briggs was 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.66 and a save percentage of .952 in three appearances against the Alaska Aces. He turned aside 38 shots in a 2-1 victory on Friday, stopped 31 shots in a 4-3 win on Saturday, and then made 30 saves in a 2-1 victory on Sunday.
The 27 year old is 4-5-1 in 11 games played for the Reign this season posting a 2.79 goals-against average and a save percentage of .912.
The native of Colorado Springs, Colorado returned to Ontario this season to play with the Reign after playing for the Dresden Ice Lions of Germany’s second tier Bundesliga League last season. In 12 games with the Reign in 2008-09 Briggs was 7-5-0 with a 2.43 goals-against average and a save percentage of .927. He also appeared in six games with Portland of the American Hockey League going 3-3-0 with a 2.85 goals-against average and a save percentage of .903.
Briggs was named to the ECHL All-Star Game while with Idaho in 2008 posting a 17-11-2 record with three shutouts, a 2.36 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920.
