PRINCETON, N.J. – Pensacola center Tyler Beechey is the CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for January.
Beechey led the team with 25 points (7g-18a) as the Ice Pilots went 10-4-1 in January and he also was a starter for the American Conference in the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, Pa.
Now in his third professional season and his second season with Pensacola, Beechey had seven multiple-point games in January, including four points against Louisiana on January 8 (2g-2a) and Augusta on January 29 (1g-3a) and three points at Texas on January 9 (1g-2a) and at Long Beach on January 23 (1g-2a). He had four consecutive games where he scored multiple points – January 7 against Louisiana (1g-1a), January 8 against Louisiana (2g-2a), January 9 at Texas (1g-2a) and January 14 at Idaho (0g-2a). In the Ice Pilots 3-0 win at Long Beach on January 23, Beechey scored the game-winning goal and assisted on the other two goals.
The 5-11 and 195-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta had a plus-minus rating of +8 for the month, finishing even or better in 12 of his 15 games. He ended the month with a five-game scoring streak (2g-8a) and a five-game assist streak (8a).
