The 25-year-old went 9-1-0 with two shutouts, a 1.92 goals-against average and a save percentage of .936 in 11 appearances during the month.
A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Houser allowed two goals or less in 9 of his 10 starts in December and made at least 28 saves in seven games. He turned aside 40 shots in a 3-2 win at Wheeling on Dec. 30 and made 45 saves in a 5-2 victory at Indy on Dec. 16.
Under contract with Tucson of the American Hockey League, Houser has appeared in 24 games for the Komets this season with a record of 14-6-2 with two shutouts, a 2.72 goals-against average and a save percentage of .908.
Houser has seen action in 122 career ECHL games with Fort Wayne, Cincinnati and Manchester posting an overall record of 68-40-10 with seven shutouts, a 2.58 goals-against average and a save percentage of .916. He has also appeared in 72 career AHL games with Cleveland, Ontario and San Antonio posting a record of 32-26-4 with three shutouts, a 2.88 goals-against average and a save percentage of .901.
Prior to turning pro, Houser played three seasons with London of the Ontario Hockey League where he went 93-38-7 with seven shutouts, a 2.90 goals-against average and a save percentage of .912 while leading the Knights to the 2010 OHL title.
