ROSEMONT, Ill. — The section marked “opportunity” in the Manitoba Moose manual features faces like former ECHL players Alexandre Burrows and Max Fortunus and Kevin Bieksa

It might be a good idea to get to work on an entry for defenceman Travis Ramsey.

Well down the depth chart out of training camp last fall, the southern California native has gradually worked himself into a regular job on the blue-line.

“As of late, the injuries we’ve had have helped me a lot; I can’t lie about that,” said Ramsey, the 25-year-old pro rookie who has helped shoulder the load while the likes of Fortunus have been out. “But other than that, I think it’s just confidence. The more you play the better you feel.

“The more time I feel I have the puck, well, before I felt kind of panicked with it and now I’m a lot more sure of myself and what I can do. That’s really helped me. This feeling I belong here has really helped me. The more games I get into I feel more at home.”
