NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The salmon is in the mail.
Well, at least South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is hoping to be dining soon on some prime Alaskan king salmon, courtesy of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Prior to the ECHL Kelly Cup finals between the Alaska Aces and the South Carolina Stingrays, the two Republican governors placed a friendly wager on the outcome.
If the Aces won their second Kelly Cup title in four years, Palin was to receive shrimp and grits and she-crab soup from Charleston’s Tristan restaurant. Sanford was to receive a healthy portion of Alaska king salmon if the Stingrays captured the franchise’s third Kelly Cup.
