The Reading Royals defeated the Florida Everblades 4-1 on Wednesday in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series. Reading advances to meet Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference Finals beginning on Friday at the Sovereign Center.
After a scoreless first period, the Royals got on the board with a power-play goal from Joel Champagne 3:54 into the second period. Barry Almeida doubled Reading’s lead with his fourth goal of the playoffs at 11:47.
Ian O’Connor and Kirk MacDonald added goals less than a minute apart late in the third period to extend the Royals’ lead to 4-0. Brandon MacLean scored the lone goal of the night for Florida on a power play at 18:02.
Riley Gill picked up the win in goal, stopping 24 shots.
