Reading’s Sarauer named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Reading Royals left wing Andrew Sarauer is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for March 14-20.

           

The 26 year old scored five goals and assisted on five others as the Royals went 2-1-0 in a three-game series against Elmira to clinch the Atlantic Division championship.

           

Sarauer registered his third career hat trick in an 8-5 loss to Elmira on Friday and then tied a career-high with six points (2g-4a) in a 9-2 win over the Jackals on Saturday. He ended the week with an assist in a 2-0 victory at Elmira on Sunday.

           

A native of Outlook, Saskatchewan, Sarauer leads the Royals with 34 assists and 57 points and is tied for the team lead with 23 goals. He is tied for fourth in the league with 28 power-play points (11g-17a).

           

Sarauer has 166 points (70g-96a) in 173 career ECHL games with Johnstown and Reading, and has two points (1g-1a) in 20 AHL games with Lake Erie, Norfolk, Rockford and Hershey.

           

On behalf of Andrew Sarauer a case of pucks will be donated to a Reading youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 23,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
