Greenville, S.C. – The Greenville Road Warriors, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced the team has re-signed rookie defenseman Justin DaSilva as its first move of the offseason.
A native of Cambridge, Ontario, DaSilva earned one assist and a +7 rating in four games with the Road Warriors last season after signing an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO) on April 2. His plus-minus rating was the best among Greenville defensemen during that span.
Prior to turning pro, the 22-year-old spent each of the last four seasons at Ohio State Univesity and recorded 23 points (7g-16a) in 122 games. As a junior in 2013-14, he led the NCAA in blocked shots per game (2.74) and amassed 85 on the season. DaSilva also earned Ohio State Scholar-Athlete honors three times and was an Academic All-Big Ten choice twice.
DaSilva spent four seasons in the junior hockey ranks from 2007-11 with the Powell River Kings (British Columbia Hockey League) and Brampton Capitals (Ontario Junior Hockey League). He was named the BCHL’s Best Defenseman and a First All-Star Team selection following the 2010-11 campaign with Powell.
