Road Warriors sign Vaive, Stamler

Greenville, S.C. – The
Greenville Road Warriors announced they have signed forward Justin Vaive and defenseman Bretton Stamler.

The Road Warriors are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers and the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack and Adirondack Phantoms.

Vaive, 24, split last season between the Cincinnati Cyclones and the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage. The 6’4’’ 210 lbs. forward scored four points (2g-2a) and added 38 penalty minutes in 41 games with San Antonio while tallying four points (2g-2a) in six games with the Cyclones. The Buffalo, N.Y. native also split time between the two teams in 2011-12, his rookie season. Vaive was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round (92nd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Stamler, 26, was acquired by the Road Warriors last December from the Las Vegas Wranglers. He finished the year with seven points (5g-2a) and 70 penalty minutes in 49 games played. Stamler was drafted in by the Detroit Red Wings in the seventh round (214th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
