Rookie Bissonnette joins IceMen

Evansville IceMen have agreed to terms with left wing Matthew Bissonnette for the 2013-14 season.

The IceMen are the ECHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Bissonnette, 21, played five seasons in the QMJHL, most recently with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan (2011-13). Bissonnette’s best statistical output of his junior career came in his 2011-12 season, when he registered 83 points (36g-47a) in 65 games. The forward appeared in 112 games in his two seasons with the Titan, recording 140 points (52g-88a) while ading 14 points (3g-11a) in 11 postseason games.

The 6’4”, 200-pound forward also spent two seasons with the Lewiston MAINEiacs from 2009-11. There, he played in 70 games and recorded 64 points (19g-45a) and added nine points (4g-5a) in 19 playoff games with the MAINEiacs.

The Beaconsfield, Quebec native split time between the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Moncton Wildcats from 2008-10. Collectively, he played in 83 games, notching 37 points (7g-28a).
