Rookie defenseman Forgaard joins Wranglers

Las Vegas – The
Las Vegas Wranglers announced that defenseman Ryan Forgaard has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season.

Forgaard, 23, will make his pro debut this season after four years at Union College. The 5-foot-11, 181-pound blueliner recorded nine assists in his collegiate career, and Union finished both the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons as ECAC Hockey champions. Forgaard, originally from Faribault, Minn., was part of the Dutchmen squad that advanced to the school’s first Frozen Four appearance in 2012.

Prior to college, Forgaard posted 12 points (1g-11a) with the United States Hockey League’s Tri-City Storm in 2008-09. He also spent a season with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Hockey League, tallying a goal and 10 assists.
