Rookie forward Desjardins joins Everblades

ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Gabriel Desjardins for the 2014-15 season.

The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League and the Charlotte Checkers and Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

The 21-year-old joins the Everblades after appearing in nine games with the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League last season before having his season cut short due to an injury.

Desjardins had a productive career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2008-13 totaling 185 points (85g-100a) in stints with the Halifax Mooseheads, Quebec Remparts and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The 6-0, 212-pound winger posted a career-best 74 points (32g-42a) in 66 regular-season games, along with 15 points (9g-6a) in 14 postseason contests with Rouyn-Noranda during the 2012-13 campaign.
