Rookie Gardner signs with Eagles

LOVELAND, Colo. – The
Colorado Eagles have announced that they have re-signed rookie Greg Gardner for the 2013-14 season.

The 6-foot, 195-pound forward was added to the Eagles roster as an amateur, prior to the playoffs last March. Despite his late arrival, the 26-year-old Gardner made an immediate impact on the score sheet. In his five regular season games with Colorado, Gardner netted four goals and an assist. He would continue to put-up numbers in the postseason, notching three assists in six playoff contests.

Prior to signing with the Eagles last season, Gardner was coming off a five-year collegiate career at the University of Alberta, with one season spent as the team’s captain. Gardner recorded 72 points (33g-39a) in 133 games with the Golden Bears. Prior to playing for the University of Alberta, he tallied 119 points (54g-65a) in 338 games over five seasons in the Western Hockey League, in addition to seeing five game’s worth of action with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
