READING, Pa. – The Reading Royals announced that they have signed defensemen Mark Ardelan and Jeff State.
The Royals are the ECHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.
In his first professional season in 2004-05, the 22-year-old Ardelan played in all 72 regular season games for South Carolina in the ECHL scoring 47 points (15g-32a) and also played in four Kelly Cup Playoff games while also picking up an assist in one AHL game with Portland.
The 26-year-old State began his professional career in 2002-03 with four points (1g-3a) and 65 penalty minutes in 29 games with Charlotte of the ECHL and four points (1g-3a) and 103 penalty minutes in 39 games with Hartford of the AHL. In 2004-05 with Danbury of the United Hockey League, the 6-foot-6 and 215-pound State had seven points (2g-5a) and 156 penalty minutes in 63 regular season games and two points (1g-1a) and 17 penalty minutes in 10 playoff games.
