READING, Pa. – The Reading Royals announced that they have signed left wing Chris Bala.
The Royals are the ECHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the second round (58th overall) by the Ottawa Senators in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, the 27-year-old had 14 points (9g-5a) and 17 penalty minutes in 58 games with Hershey in the AHL in 2004-05.
The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound Bala has played four seasons in the AHL with Binghamton, Grand Rapids, Hershey and Houston scoring 99 points (51g-48a) in 253 regular season games and eight points (2g-6a) in 18 playoff games. He also played in the NHL with Ottawa in 2001-02 registering one assist in six games.
