Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Louis Liotti.
Last season, Liotti, who hails from Westbury, New York, registered thirteen points (1g-12a) and forty-three penalty minutes in 52 regular season games for the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL last season. Liotti also picked up an assist and four penalty minutes in 10 games with the Worcester Sharks of the AHL last year.
Prior to turning pro, Liotti put together a stellar four-year career at Northeastern University, which culminated in his senior season when the Huskies ran off a twenty-five win season and earned a berth in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1994. At the conclusion of that season, Liotti was selected as Hockey East’s Best Defensive Defenseman and was also honored as a semi-finalist for the annual Walter Brown Award which is bestowed upon the best American-born Division I hockey player in New England. Recently, Liotti, who played to a collective plus-26 (+26) in his last three seasons at Northeastern, was selected to the school’s All-Decade Team.
