READING, Pa. – Gordon Kaye had planned to wait. The Reading Royals general manager initially figured he’d let April pass, see which candidates were out there, then make a decision on his head coach for next season.
But interim coach Larry Courville‘s performance behind the bench, and several endorsements from the players, caused Kaye to scrap that plan.
Saturday night, after the Reading Royals’ season finale against Dayton at the Sovereign Center, Kaye announced to the season-ticket holders that Courville will be the team’s head coach for 2009-10.
“I think the thing that ultimately swayed me in the direction of making this decision now is, I’m sure we’re not going to do better,” Kaye said.
