VICTORIA, British Columbia – The Victoria Salmon Kings announced that they have signed goaltender B.J. Boxma.
Boxma played in 2004-05 for the University of Alberta, which captured the Canadian Interuniversity Sports championship after playing 16 games at Grant McEwen College in 2003-04.
In 2002-03, the 6-foot and 180-pound Boxma played 10 games in the ECHL with Reading and one game in the American Hockey League with Manchester and was 12-13-0 with a goals-against average of 3.56 and a save percentage of .879 for Long Beach in the West Coast Hockey League.
The 24-year-old played five seasons in the Western Hockey League with Kootenay and Swift Current and in 2000-01 he was 26-14-2 with a goals-against average of 2.66 and a save percentage of .902 in 44 games.
