VICTORIA, British Columbia – The Victoria Salmon Kings announced that they have agreed to terms with veteran defenseman Phil Cole.
The Salmon Kings are the ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League and the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the fourth round (125th overall) by the New Jersey Devils in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 24 year old had 15 points (3g-12a) and 105 penalty minutes in 51 regular season games and three points (1g-2a) and 21 penalty minutes in five Kelly Cup Playoff games for Victoria in 2006-07. The Salmon Kings acquired Cole in an Oct. 31 trade with Augusta where he had one assist and six penalty minutes in two games.
The 6-foot-4 and 197-pound defenseman has played in the ECHL in each of his first five seasons and has 43 points (10g-33a) and 450 penalty minutes in 206 regular season games and three points (1g-2a) and 21 penalty minutes in seven Kelly Cup Playoff games with Victoria, Augusta, Cincinnati and Columbus.
