Schmitt Named Chiefs Broadcaster

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Chiefs announced that they have hired Ray Schmitt as director of broadcasting.

Johnstown celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2007-08 and is the only one of the five original ECHL teams that still plays in the same city as they did in 1988-89. The Chiefs are hosting the Wheeling Nailers in a special Opening Day game, which will be the only game being played in the ECHL on Oct. 18.

The native of Windber, Pa. was a media relations intern for the Chiefs in 2006-07 while completing his degree at Penn State University where he was the play-by-play voice of the Penn State Icers for three seasons.
