BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced that goaltender Matt Underhill has been loaned to St. John’s of the American Hockey League. It is the first call up of the season for the 25-year-old Underhill, who will be available for the Maple Leafs game against Hamilton on Friday.
In 23 games with Mississippi, the 6-2 and 220-pound Underhill is 13-7-3 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.54 and a save percentage of .926.
Selected by Calgary in the sixth round (170th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and a 2002 ECHL All-Star Game selection, Underhill made an emergency start for the Blackhawks on March 7 and made 29 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Edmonton.
