Senators assign Lawson to Elmira


ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira Jackals announced today that goalie Nathan Lawson has been reassigned to the club by the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League from the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Senators.

Lawson, 29, signed as a free agent with Ottawa this summer after logging 44 games with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs last year. He went 19-17-4 in his third full AHL season. Prior to Hamilton he spent three seasons in the New York Islanders’ system splitting time between the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies, the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, and the Islanders. Lawson, 6-2, 190, was 35-25-5 with the Sound Tigers and went 1-4-2 over 10 appearances with the Islanders. He earned his first NHL win on Feb. 15, 2011 with with a 28-save performance against Ottawa.

Lawson has seen parts of three seasons in the ECHL with the Phoenix Roadrunners and Utah. He is 19-9-1 in the ECHL and made his last start on Oct. 24, 2008 for Utah against Alaska. The Grizzlies won that game 7-3 behind 33 saves from Lawson.
