ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Based on the evidence through two hockey games, these ECHL Kelly Cup Finals are going to furnish a succession of thrillers decided by the thinnest of margins and filled with anxious moments until the final horn.
At least that proved the case again Saturday night, when the Alaska Aces used Colin Hemingway‘s game-winning strike eight minutes into the third period and Jean-Philippe Lamoureux‘s stalwart goaltending to forge a series-tying 3-1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays.
Alaska’s critical victory in Game 2 of the best-of-7 series came in front of a sellout crowd of 6,396 at Sullivan Arena and evened the showdown at 1-1 entering Game 3 Wednesday in Charleston. Game 4 is Friday in Charleston, with Game 5 there Saturday.
