Somewhere deep inside forward Mike Sgroi‘s 6-foot-5, 230-pound body resides a scorer yearning to break free.
He’s sneaking out again in Elmira.
Sgroi has begun the transformation from AHL enforcer to ECHL point producer with 1 goal and 2 assists in his first three games with the Jackals. It’s a familiar pattern. He went 9-8 in 17 games for that team last season, and in scattered runs throughout the league the past few seasons has been roughly a point-per-game guy. In the AHL, he hasn’t come anywhere near that pace.
