PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL on Thursday announced that it has hired David Shipitofsky as Director of Team Services, who will focus on ticket sales and provide support to all ECHL teams.
He comes to the ECHL following five years with the National Basketball Association. He began his career with the NBA in August 2000 as coordinator of team ticket sales and service before being promoted in August 2002 to manager of team ticket sales & service.
Upon receiving his bachelor’s degree in sports management from Seton Hall University, Shipitofsky was hired as director of ticket operations with the Newark Bears, a charter member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. During his undergraduate work, he did internships with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority and the New Jersey Devils while also working as a sales assistant in the athletic ticket office at Seton Hall.
The Premier “AA” Hockey League, the ECHL had affiliations with 24 of the 28 teams in the AHL in 2004-05 and provided over 78 percent of the roster additions to the 28 teams in the American Hockey League. The ECHL accounted for 355 of the 450 roster additions involving players from the four professional minor leagues in North America. The ECHL has affiliations with 23 of the 30 teams in the National Hockey League and almost 100 players in the ECHL are on NHL contracts.
The ECHL welcomed its first team outside the United States in 2004-05 with the addition of Victoria, British Columbia and 2005-06 will see the addition of Stockton, California and Phoenix, Arizona.
