Simpson re-signs with Stingrays

North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays have re-signed forward Wayne Simpson for the 2014-15 season, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears and Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Simpson, 24, finished second on the Stingrays and led all team rookies last season with 22 goals and 41 points in 66 contests. The Boxboro, Mass. native joined the Stingrays following a four-year career at Union College where he totaled 115 points (56g-59a) in 159 contests, led the team in scoring his senior season and helped capture Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships in 2012 and 2013.
