Smeltzer agrees to terms with Eagles

LOVELAND, Colo. – The
Colorado Eagles announced Tuesday that they have re-signed defenseman Isaac Smeltzer for the 2013-2014 season.

Smeltzer, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound blueliner, played in a 58 games last season with the Eagles, registering two goals and five assists. He also appeared in five playoff games, adding two assists. In Smeltzer’s 11 late appearances with the Eagles in 2011-12 he posted one assist and saw action in three playoff games.

Prior to coming to Colorado, he recorded 42 points (8g-34a) and 270 penalty minutes in 106 games with Brock University, setting collegiate career highs in goals (4), assists (10), points (14) and penalty minutes (138) in 2011-12. Before his four years with the Badgers, Smeltzer played three seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League, registering 69 points (19g-50a) and 327 penalty minutes in 158 games.
