Smyth, Sipotz Assigned To Gladiators

DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators announced that right wing Adam Smyth and defenseman Brian Sipotz have been assigned to the team from Chicago of the American Hockey League. Gwinnett also announced that goaltender Adam Berkhoel has been recalled to Chicago of the AHL. The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of Chicago of the AHL.

Selected in the fourth round (100th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-6 and 213-pound Sipotz had one assist and four penalty minutes in four games with Chicago.

The 21-year-old Smyth, who had two penalty minutes in one game with Chicago, began his professional career in 2003-04 with Port Huron of the United Hockey League, registering two penalty minutes in four regular season games and 21 penalty minutes in seven playoff games.
