Staal Recalled By Charlotte

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that forward Jared Staal has be recalled to the American Hockey League by the Charlotte Checkers.

Staal heads back to the Checkers after seeing action in 13 games with the Everblades since he was assigned to the team on November 19. The 20 year old tallied his first professional goal with the Everblades on Nov. 24 vs. Trenton and overall recorded six points (3g-3a) in his 13 games.

Staal, who is in his first full professional season, opened the season with the Checkers where he saw action in nine games.

The Thunder Bay, Ontario native wrapped up a four-year junior career with the Sudbury Wolves on the Ontario Hockey League last season but also saw action in the AHL during each of the last two seasons, skating in five games with the San Antonio Rampage during both the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.

Staal, who is the younger brother of current NHLers Eric (Carolina Hurricanes), Marc (New York Rangers) and Jordan (Pittsburgh Penguins), was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Coyotes in May, 2010.
