Stars Assign Mikkonen To Steelheads
Idaho Invites Peters, Yablonski To Camp

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads announced that rookie wing Tuomas Mikkonen has been assigned to the team by the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League while defenseman Colin Peters and forward Jeremy Yablonski have each been extended an invitation to training camp.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of Iowa of the AHL and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.

Selected in the eighth round (243rd overall) by Dallas in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 23-year-old Mikkonen has played the last five seasons in his native Finland where he had 38 points (21g-17a) in 190 games with JyP HT Jyvaskyla from 2001-06.

Yablonski appeared in three games for Idaho before being placed on the season-ending injury list on Mar. 10, registering one assist and 25 penalty minutes after being assigned by Milwaukee of the AHL on Feb. 23.In his second professional season in 2005-06, the 24-year-old Peters had one assist and 26 penalty minutes in 30 games with Houston of the AHL and two penalty minutes in three games with Pensacola.
