Stebner, Thunder agree to terms

Stockton, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders and AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announced that they have signed defenseman Brad Stebner for the 2014-15 season.

Stebner, 24, signed an Amateur Tryout contract with the Thunder on March 25 after he finished up a four-year career with Michigan Tech University. The former Huskies’ captain appeared in five games with the Thunder, notching seven penalty minutes.

He totaled 29 points (5g-24a) and 111 penalty minutes in 139 career collegiate games. Prior to enrolling at Michigan Tech, Stebner played junior hockey with his hometown team, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (AJHL) from 2007-10. Stebner posted 37 points (4g-33a) in his final year of juniors in 2009-10 and was a finalist for the AJHL’s Defenseman of the Year award, as well, as a captain of the North Division All-Star Team.
