BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads announced that they have acquired defenseman Jonathan Zion from the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for cash.
Under contract to Utah of the American Hockey League, Zion, who was voted as a starter for the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game after appearing in the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game as a rookie, is expected to play on Friday when Idaho hosts Victoria.
The 6-1 and 205-pound Zion has played in two games with Utah, but did not score any points.
In 2003-04, the 23-year-old played in the ECHL with Reading and Greenville and in the AHL with Manchester and Syracuse. He scored 28 points (6g-22a) in 29 games with Reading and three points (2g-1a) in seven games with Greenville while registering two assists in 19 AHL games.
