Steelheads Add Barlow, King

The Idaho Steelheads announced that 2010 ECHL All-Star MVP Evan Barlow has re-joined the team and will make his season debut Friday night against Bakersfield at Qwest Arena.  In a separate transaction, the Texas Stars have reassigned forward Tristan King to Idaho.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of Texas and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.

Barlow, 25, had been playing professionally in Norway, scoring 22 points (6g-16a) in 27 games for Valerenga. The Strathmore, Alberta, native had a breakout rookie campaign with Idaho last season.  He was named to the ECHL’s All-Rookie team after scoring 75 points (32g-43a) in 58 games with the Steelheads. He also scored 18 points (8g-10a) for the team during the Kelly Cup playoffs.

The 20 year old King skated in six games with the Steelheads earlier this season, collecting four points (1g-3a). He has also played in 11 games at the American Hockey League level, scoring twice and handing out two assists for Texas. King played his junior hockey in the Western Hockey League – one of the continent’s elite major-junior leagues – for the Medicine Hat Tigers and Portland Winterhawks.
