Boise, Idaho – Idaho Steelheads head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter announced the team has signed forward Kyle Reed and goaltender Dusty Carlson to Amateur Tryout Agreements (ATO).
The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
As a freshman in 2007-08, Reed tied for second on the team with ten goals. He finished his college career with 22 tallies over four seasons. The 24 year old has a family tie to Boise as well – his uncle, Gerald Bell, competed in track at Boise State, received his doctorate in Education and is currently the principal at Boise’s Collister Elementary.
Carlson, 24, posted 21 wins in net for the Buckeyes in 2008-09 as a sophomore, the fourth-highest single-season win total in program history. His minutes played and save percentage were also among the best in a season at Ohio State.
