Boise, Idaho – Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced that the Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with rookie defensemen Tyler Elbrecht and Mike Beck.
The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Elbrecht, 24, played college hockey at Minnesota State, the same college program that produced former Steelhead standout Kael Mouillierat. Elbrecht spent the past two seasons as the squad’s captain, appearing in a total of 142 games during his four-year stint with the Mavericks. In that time, the 6-foot-4 defenseman scored three goals and added 24 assists.
The 27-year-old Beck has spent the past two seasons in Europe after a four-year college career at the University of New Hampshire. He totaled 63 points (13g-50a) in 83 games in Sweden and Norway after wrapping up his career at UNH. During his season in Sweden (2011-12), he led all league defensemen in assists (30) and points (35).
