Boise, Idaho – Defenseman Chris Hepp and forward Eric Rex have agreed to contracts with the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads, bringing the number of players headed to Boise for training camp to six.
Hepp, 24, joined the Steelheads out of Saint Cloud State (MN) in January. In 39 contests, he had four assists and 71 penalty minutes. He also appeared in all nine of Idaho’s games during the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs.
In 37 games as a senior at Canisius College (NY), the 23-year-old Rex was third on the team in scoring with 27 points (9goals-18a). It was a breakout season for Rex as the 5-foot-11 forward more than doubled the point total from his first three seasons with the Golden Griffins. All seven of his career multi-point games at Canisius came last season as a senior, including a three-assist effort on “Senior Night” against Mercyhurst.
