BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads announced that they have signed goaltender Matt Yeats, right wing Garrett Bembridge and rookie defenseman Jim Hakewill.
Idaho is the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.
In 2004-05, the 26-year-old Yeats was 2-1-1 with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage in four regular season games and 0-1 with a goals-against average of 2.78 and a save percentage of .864 in two Kelly Cup Playoff games for Idaho and 8-2-2 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.38 and a save percentage of .918 in 13 games for Reading. The Steelheads acquired Yeats on March 22 from Reading in exchange for future considerations, which became forward David Morisset.
Selected in the fifth round (137th overall) by the New York Rangers in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and in the seventh round (207th overall) by the Calgary Flames in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Bembridge played in Germany in 2004-05 where he had 56 points (23g-33a) and 102 penalty minutes in 50 games with Crimmitschau ETC.
Selected in the fifth round (145th overall) by the Calgary Flames in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-5 and 223-pound Hakewill played four seasons at St. Lawrence University, finishing with 19 points (8g-11a) and 160 penalty minutes in 128 games.
