Boise, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads will host their second fund-raising jersey auction of the season this weekend, wearing specially-themed, black and gold jerseys against the Las Vegas Wranglers on March 2 and 3.
The jerseys will feature the logo of the University of Idaho. The team’s previous jersey auction in January featured blue and orange jerseys with the logo of Boise State University on the shoulders.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from this weekend’s jersey auction will benefit St. Luke’s MSTI Pediatrics Unit and St. Luke’s Elks Children’s Rehab.
“We have a lot of hockey fans in the valley that are U of I alums,” Team President Eric Trapp said. “They’ve been asking for a couple of years when we were going to do a Vandal-themed specialty jersey, so we’re excited to give them a chance to bid on one.”
The Steelheads have been doing charitable jersey auctions since the 1997-98 season, raising $370,000 for local charities and non-profit organizations in that time.
