Stejskal signs with Gladiators

DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators announced that the team has signed defenseman Joe Stejskal for the 2014-15 season.

The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes and the American Hockey League’s Portland Pirates.

Stejskal’s rights were acquired by the Gladiators in the completion of a trade with the Florida Everblades on June 18. Last season with the Everblades, he racked up 19 points (3g-16a), 77 penalty minutes and a +6 rating over 65 games.

From 2011-13, the native of Grand Rapids, Minn. played in 93 games with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs and 26 games with their ECHL affiliate in Wheeling. He was also a defensive leader for four years at Dartmouth College, averaging over 31 games played per season. While there, he registered 32 points (14g-18a) and 162 penalty minutes in 126 regular-season contests.
