Stingrays add rookie forward Gracel

North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays have agreed to terms with forward Branden Gracel, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Providence Bruins and Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Gracel, 24, enters his first professional season after attending the University of Massachusetts-Amherst for four seasons from 2010-14. The Calgary, Alberta native totaled 89 points (38g-51a) in 134 games and was a two-time Hockey East All-Academic Team selection and Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star. Before joining the Minutemen, Gracel skated two seasons of junior hockey with Fort McMurray in the Alberta Junior Hockey League picking up 117 points (49g-68a) in 100 contests and named an AJHL All-Star, league MVP and AJHL Playoff MVP in 2010.
