NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays announced that defenseman and team captain Trevor Johnson has received clearance from team doctors to return to the ice.
Johnson, who has been out of the lineup since suffering a broken leg on November 4, is expected to play on Tuesday when South Carolina hosts Gwinnett. Johnson had three assists and 13 penalty minutes in nine games before the injury.
Named as the team captain in 2003-04, Johnson joined the team in 2000-01 and helped the Stingrays win the Kelly Cup Championship. He was named as the team’s captain in 2003-04 and scored 21 points (6g-15a) in 56 regular season games and two goals in seven Kelly Cup Playoff games.
