NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays announced that they have renewed their affiliation with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.
The Stingrays have been affiliated with Washington and Hershey since 2005-06.
“We are excited to have extended our affiliation with South Carolina as the Stingrays prepare to celebrate their 15th season,” said Capitals vice president and general manager George McPhee. “Our prospects have had a terrific experience with the Stingrays, and we look forward to continue working together.”
The Stingrays received six players who were under NHL contract to Washington in 2006-07 including defenseman Sasha Pokulok, who was selected in the first round (14th overall) by the Capitals in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
