Stingrays re-sign defenseman Vaughan

North Charleston, S.C. – The
South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team has signed defenseman Scooter Vaughan.

Vaughan, 24, skated in 50 games with the Stingrays last season adding six goals and 14 assists for 20 points and registering 75 penalty minutes. In four Kelly Cup Playoff contests, the Placentia, Calif. native buried one goal.

As a rookie in 2011-12, Vaughan appeared in 20 games with the Wheeling Nailers totaling six points (1g-5a). Entering his second full campaign, the 6-foot, 195-pound defenseman attended training camp with the Nailers last season before being released and joining the Stingrays.

Prior to turning pro, Vaughan attended the University of Michigan for four seasons recording 39 points (16g-23a) in 137 contests and helping the Wolverines capture CCHA Championships in 2008 and 2010. In 2007-08, Vaughan skated alongside current Stingrays defenseman and team captain Kevin Quick.
