Stingrays Receive Dovgan, Machesney From Hershey

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays announced that they have received rookie goaltender Daren Machesney (pictured) and rookie defenseman Viktor Dovgan from the Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of Hershey of the AHL and the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League.

Selected in the fifth round (143rd overall) by the Capitals in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, the 19-year-old Machesney played in the Ontario Hockey League in 2005-06 where he was 28-17-3 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 3.03 and a save percentage of .908 in 49 games for Brampton.
