Stingrays sign rookie forward Gensler

North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays have signed forward Brett Gensler, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Gensler, 23, wrapped up a four-year collegiate career at Bentley University totaling 167 points (73g-94a) in 145 games and recorded a career-high in assists (32) and points (53) this season. The St. Charles, Mo. native was named to the AHA First All-Star Team his sophomore, junior and senior seasons and earned an AHA scoring title in 2010-11 along with the Walter Brown Award, presented annually to the best American-born Division I men’s college hockey player in New England.

Before joining the NCAA Ranks, Gensler skated two seasons of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League with the Youngstown Phantoms and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders adding 53 points (26g-27a) in 112 contests.
