Stingrays Sign Rookies McIlveen, O’Brien

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays announced that they have signed rookies Paul McIlveen and Pierre-Luc O’Brien (pictured).

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

The 21-year-old McIlveen had 128 points (52g-76a) and 116 penalty minutes in 116 regular season game and 25 points (12g-13a) and 20 penalty minutes in 25 playoff games with Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The 25-year-old O’Brien played four seasons at Sacred Heart University where he had 158 points (67g-91a) and 141 penalty minutes in 142 regular season games while also playing with the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League where he had two penalty minutes in two regular season games.
