STOCKTON, Calif. – Dan Chapman isn’t sure how many people will show up to buy season tickets for Stockton’s new professional hockey team. But considering how much his phone has been ringing the past few days, he’s optimistic that opening day may be big.
Season tickets for the team go on sale between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Bob Hope Theatre, 242 E. Main Street. Prices range from $325 for the upper end zone to $900 for seats behind the glass. There’s a $50 deposit for each ticket.
It’s already been a newsworthy week for Stockton Pro Hockey Group Inc., which officially purchased a franchise Monday. Chapman, the team president, believes it could get much better.
“I won’t predict how many people are going to show up to buy tickets, but we’ve had a lot of people call us recently,” he said. “There’s been a lot of interest. We’ll see how many people show up to buy on the first day, but we are encouraged.”
Stockton Pro Hockey Group Inc. purchased the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies to play in the Double-A ECHL. The Stockton team will begin playing in the new arena in October.
