TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Storm announced that forward Sam Paolini has been called up to the American Hockey League by the Utah Grizzlies. Toledo also announced that forward Tomas Micka has been assigned to the team by Edmonton of the National Hockey League.
Paolini is second on the Storm with 10 assists and 14 points in 16 games.
In his first professional season in 2003-04, the 24-year-old Paolini scored 46 points (18g-28a) in 63 regular season ECHL games and three points (1g-2a) in four Kelly Cup Playoff games with Atlantic City. He also played in the American Hockey League, scoring one point (0g-1a) in one game with Cleveland and one point (1g-0a) in four games with Rochester.
Selected in the eighth round (245th overall) by Edmonton in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old Micka scored 32 points (17g-15a) in 67 games with Columbus of the ECHL in 2003-04.
