Tassone named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week


Matt Tassone of the Elmira Jackals is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 27-Nov. 2.


Tassone had three goals, added three assists and was a +6 last week as the Jackals won a pair of home games against Brampton.


The 24-year-old scored a shorthanded goal and added an assist in a 3-2 win on Friday and then tallied four points (2g-2a) and was a +4 in a 5-3 victory on Saturday.


A native of St Albert, Alberta, Tassone has eight points (5g-3a) in five games this season. His five goals are tied for the Jackals’ team lead, and are tied for third overall in the league.


Tassone has 72 points (34g-38a) in 131 career ECHL games with Elmira, Las Vegas, Ontario and Idaho. He has also scored one goal in 13 career American Hockey League games with Lake Erie.


On behalf of Matt Tassone, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 31,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
